One of our teams was painting a home in Toronto originally built in the 1920s. There is always a lot of prep work to be done when painting these homes - many cracks to fill etc. During the prep work on one of the bedrooms, we found something very interesting! It seemed as though a name had been embossed on the closet door. Clear to us was the name, “WENDY WOO”. This brought upon much discussion as to what this meant, who had written it, how old was it? The history of the house was right there in front of us. As many owners of older homes like to keep old feeling and charm of their homes, we felt it necessary to make sure they wouldn’t want to keep this keepsake from years past.
They gave us the go-ahead to fill in the area with some patching compound and alas, Wendy Woo was gone forever!

Originally painted an off white in this condo kitchen, our North York Painters had fun painting it in Benjamin Moore’s colour Bull’s Eye Red.
With only marble window ledges, the inserts were left white, creating a frame, which worked out very well, giving sharp, dramatic lines.
The undersides of the bulkheads also remained white, hence more enjoyment viewing these clean edges.
The living room was painted in a soft grey, with the red as a highlight on the dining room wall, keeping that appetite going from stovetop to table.
What’s for dinner Carole?

The summers in Toronto are unpredictable and overall difficult for Toronto Painters to schedule.
Working outdoors can be uncomfortable for painters, especially in very hot and humid days.
There are days when any outdoor activity can be unhealthy. But when the weather is comfortable and predictable, working outside can be very enjoyable.
The pictures here are from two years ago, during the painting of a home in Weston Ontario.
The customer was great and hospitable, the weather nice and the painters enjoyed working there.

The actual painting project itself was very interesting.
There was a lot of preparation work being done before any paint brush was even touched.
The main areas were painted in a soft white and brown trim was used to highlight the small details.
An example of the almost cute detail is the trim painted on the exterior of the bird houses!
That is micro painting for hands of considerable skill!

Staining of the lattice over the back patio was time consuming and there were two painters working,
one painter on each side of it.

The thoughtful and subtle detail is evident on the painting of the storage shed at the back of the house.

- Charming Toronto semi-detached painted
Spend some time painting homes in the suburbs and you forget the charm of older Toronto homes. A flower box here, a plant there and before you know it, Toronto exterior painting becomes important, very important.
Succumbing to that charm is the order of the day, so get over it, and paint this house like you mean it!
This Central East Toronto semi-detached needed a bit of help anyway, the homeowner was a friend of a previous customer. It had a new porch that was stained with a semi-solid stain. The risers were primed and painted with a porch enamel and the railing was primed and painted with acrylic enamel.
The old windows and trim were scraped, primed and a new coat or two of Benjamin Moore’s Oxford White was applied.
