It is safe to assume most of us these days would prefer that the frog stays a frog.
Earth Rangers is a non profit organization, founded in 1999. It is located in Woodbridge Ontario. The purpose of Earth Rangers is to provide Environmental Education to young people through school activities and hands on activities.
Most of their programs are free of charge, as they are supported by some generours donors such as:
Husky Injection Moulding Systems Ltd, the Krembil Foundation and the Schad Foundation.
Earth Rangers uses a unique way of getting their message across. They use “Animal Ambassadors” to tell their story and how humans affected their lives. These animals are cared for and reside in the facility. They would not survive in the wild. Children meet the animals and learn how their choices can affect animals. The students are encouraged to be active in protecting the planet.
In 2008, the Vaughan Painters of Ecopainting Inc. had a great opportunity to offer their services and paint in the Earth Rangers Building. We did notice that this was not an ordinary building.
Waterless urinals, zero VOC paints, working around the daily routine of the birds of prey to paint the outside window trim , guinea pigs at the lobby, some old instructions on how to bathe a snake…

The building is a LEED Gold certified building (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
The ERC (Earth Rangers Centre) uses 79% less energy than a similar sized building.
The building was a host of the World Green Building Council Secretariat.

- Carbon Free and quiet
Not too far from the house we were painting, in a North Toronto neighbourhood, somewhere in the Avenue Road and Wilson area, I came across Carbon Free Cutters.
Usually every morning, after the homeowners leave for work, the “busy bee” lawn service types take over the streets. And take over they do! The sound of lawn mowers, leaf blowers and equipment is deafening. Large trucks, equipment and trailers transform the quiet streets into occupied military zone. The smell of gasoline cannot be escaped.
When I came across Carbon Free Cutters, I stopped, talked to the young business owner and took some pictures. He is apparently staying very busy, as homeowners like his eco-frendly approach. He is using a mountain bike trailer to transport the manual lawn mower.
